What this does not do.
Read this before you plan an afternoon around it. It is kept current because it is written from the same notes the work is tracked in, and because a surprise here costs more than an absence does.
Not built — a decision, with a date behind it
- Sculpting, print supports, curve cuts, many-part splitting, articulated joints, moulds and rendering. Eight of the category's fourteen tools; see features for which halves of the other six are missing.
- No sign-in and no licensing. It is a free open beta and nothing checks anything.
- No automatic updates. A new version is a download.
- English only. No translations yet.
- No moving, rotating or scaling a part. Models arrive where they are and stay there.
- Reading: STL, OBJ, PLY and 3MF, and nothing else — no STEP, no glTF, no point clouds. Writing: 3MF and its own project format. It does not slice.
- Simplifying a model to make it fit drops its paint, and says so, because simplifying replaces the triangles the paint was on.
Built, but nobody has watched it work
This is the section that usually gets rounded up into the one above. It is separate on purpose.
- Windows and macOS. Both build and both are published automatically. Neither has ever been launched. On macOS, double-clicking a model file will not open it — that path is not connected at all.
- Firefox and Safari. Untested. Nothing is known to be wrong with either.
- The newer graphics backend. Never rendered on hardware we have. The older one is what is verified, and the app falls back to it automatically, so this is a missing upside rather than a missing feature.
- Installers on a clean machine. Never run on one, for any platform.
- Updating from one version to the next. Never tested, because there has never been a next version.
- The too-big-for-this-machine refusal. Every part of it is tested, and no oversized model has ever been dropped into a real browser to see it happen.
Deliberate — this is not going to change
- No account, no upload, no telemetry. Your model never leaves your machine.
- Millimetres, always, converted once when the file is read. The unit switch changes what you read, never what is stored.
- The canvas is never covered. Nothing is ever drawn on top of your model.
- Repair is reported, never silent, and a clean file passes through untouched rather than being "improved".
- Anything that fails tells you what to do next. If a message ever tells you something broke without telling you what to do about it, that is a bug on its own — every change is run against a corpus of real files that fails over exactly that.
